The Expensive Park
I step into this expensive park
Breadcrumbs cover the ground
foot
steps crackle
Oreo crumbs follow
soft and reassuring underfoot
Fried seaweed coats the ground
carrying the scent of the East Sea
Sore legs and a flat stomach
know better
Deep inside the park
a floating sealed capsule lies hidden
Pitch black, two orange points of light
sway, sway
my ears grow seasick
my vision slips into hallucination
slender eucalyptus leaves
like blade spin and fall
A broken iron gate
suddenly lets out
a creaking grinding sound
A woman in purple passes by
and smiles at me
She rode the capsule too, once
Only her two dogs understand
every adult who climbs aboard
tries to reconnect with who they were
This expensive park can
fullfill no dreams
except temptation
