Every January
new faces appear at the gym
new year, new vibe
everyone like little spring seedlings
full of enthusiasm

Maybe everyone
has a New Year to-do list
I never have
from birth until now
maybe I just don’t believe in vows

But this year is different
I was given a to-do list
its contents are colourful
like the shingles at the corner of my eye
first swollen
then painful
then itchy

I prepared forty-two pills
to feed them
until they are full
satisfied
and finally leave

I named this list
Shit List
