The Life Behind the Mask

A man built on façades
wearing a gleaming—yet grim—smile
speaking in a warm
softly guiding tone

You look at yourself in the mirror
I see you from the heart
You think I am change
You don’t understand—that is who I am
I don’t think you are change
I see only your surface
not you beneath

We walk side by side
You feel warmth and softness
I walk barefoot
each step measured over broken eggshells

Before authenticity
everyone stands naked
Now I see you—
how fragile you are
and how strong I have always been

What I gave you was more than you could carry
You may stay with the past
I am already moving on
